Terms of Service
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use DYAD. By using the app you confirm you meet this requirement. DYAD is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
2. What DYAD is
DYAD is a watch-party and collaborative drawing web app. It lets users in a shared room watch YouTube videos in sync and play the InkMind drawing game together. All rooms are ephemeral — they exist only as long as the server is running and are never persisted to disk.
3. YouTube content
DYAD embeds YouTube videos using the official YouTube IFrame API, in compliance with YouTube's API Terms of Service. By using DYAD you also agree to be bound by YouTube's Terms of Service.
- DYAD does not download, transcode, or store any YouTube content.
- Ads, attribution, and all YouTube controls are preserved in the embedded player.
- You are responsible for ensuring any content you share in a room complies with applicable copyright law and platform terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use DYAD to share, display, or facilitate access to content you do not have the right to share.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or disrupt the service.
- Use DYAD for any unlawful purpose.
5. No warranties & limitation of liability
DYAD is provided "as is" during beta. We make no guarantees of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the DYAD team is not liable for any direct, indirect, or incidental damages arising from use of the service.
6. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of DYAD after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
Privacy Policy
1. What we collect
- Display name: The name you choose when creating or joining a room. Stored in server memory only for the duration of the session; deleted when the room ends or the server restarts.
- Chat messages: Stored in server memory (last 80 messages per room) to sync late joiners. Deleted when the room ends.
- Beta feedback: If you submit feedback through the in-app form, your chosen display name, feedback text, and label are stored in a private database. This is used solely to improve the product.
- Server logs: Railway (our hosting provider) may log IP addresses as part of standard infrastructure operation. We do not access or process these logs beyond debugging.
2. What we do NOT collect
- Real names, email addresses, or account credentials — DYAD has no login system.
- Voice audio — voice calls are peer-to-peer (WebRTC) and never pass through our server.
- Drawing canvas content — canvas events are relayed in real time and not stored.
- Payment information.
- Cookies or tracking pixels.
3. How we use data
Session data (name, chat) is used only to operate the real-time room features. Feedback data is used to prioritise bug fixes and feature improvements. We do not sell, share, or monetise any user data.
4. Data retention
- Session data: Deleted automatically when the room closes or the server restarts (typically within hours).
- Beta feedback: Retained until the beta period ends or you request deletion.
5. Your rights
If you submitted feedback and would like it deleted, or have any privacy question, contact us at akshaurastudio@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. EU/UK residents have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data under GDPR/UK GDPR.

DYAD is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted feedback data to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
